r/pettyrevenge Posted by u/2Difficult2Remember Controlling Librarian Took my students to the library and 1 of my students who has anxiety lost a small piece of paper. He asked for a new one and the librarian refused. Student came to me anxious asking for help.

We looked in the areas he had been and couldn't find it. At this point my student is close to tears. I wait my turn and ask the librarian if I can use one of the papers no one wanted for anxious student. He said no.

After thinking about it, I announced to my class that anyone who could find it would get a reward. Complete chaos. Librarian tried to quiet them down, didn't work, I didn't help. Librarian announced that he would look later, my students kept running around looking. Chaos continued.

After about 10 minutes it was found and we all cheered. I could have easily quieted them down at any time, but that over-controlling noob. Your little rules should not be more important than an excellent student with anxiety being stressed.

rawrxiao 2 days ago I once lost a book in the library (elementary school) I was in tears. I went to the bathroom and then suddenly my book was gone. Ive always been meticulous with my things so the fact that I lost my library book in a library was confusing as to me.

I panicked and told the librarian, she helped me look we didn't find it. She just smiled at me and said "Well I guess the book went on an adventure of its own."

They later found it in a classmates book-bag.. They had wanted to check it out but when I did it first they got mad. from me. So they just hid my book But that little phrase still pops into my head when I can't find something and it really helps even as someone who is nearly 30 now.

littledutchtulip . 2 days ago When I was in elementary school, I went to the library to borrow books for a presentation on the evolution of fashion. I found books on fashion from different historical periods, like the Middle Ages. As I reached the counter with a stack of books, the librarian, in a grumpy tone, said, 'Are you going to borrow all of these? Now no one else can borrow them, you know?' I was speechless because... isn't that the point of the library and borrowing?

bmtri 2 days ago As a librarian in a few different settings, I can totally see that librarian - I have worked with them before and they are the worst. Good for you! 155 Reply Share sysikki 1 day ago Same from an assistant librarian of 30+ years.

Daddys Baby-76 · 2 days ago Ugh!! As a former elementary teacher and librarian (and just decent person with a heart), I cannot stand people like that. Absolutely no business being around kids if that is the attitude you have. That is awesome petty revenge though! Love it! So glad your kiddo got his paper back too.

womanitou 2 days ago You will be remembered by that student. I'm elderly now but I had a couple of wonderful teachers that I still think fondly of. 170 Reply Share KingBooRadley · 2 days ago As my wife always says, people will not remember what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel. OP done good.

Thank you for advocating for them, without having to confront the adult that probably shouldn't be working with or around kids. I wish there were more people (that teach!) like you in the world.

likelazarus 2 days ago I actually became a librarian because when I was a teacher, our librarian was soooo mean and awful. I hated it because the library should be a safe and welcoming space but the kids were terrified of her. So I went back to school to become a kind librarian!

highandloaded23 2 days ago So where was the piece of paper? I'm clearly invested Reply Share 2Difficult2Remember OP 2 days ago It was in an aisle that the anxious student had not been in. I suspect one of my other students took it; I have some mischievous ones.
